The week's story
These are the GitHub repos that gained the most stars in week 41, from October 5 to 11. For the first time, every number here is measured by us, from our own snapshots of GitHub. We count down the top five: what each one does, why it climbed, and whether you should try it. Then five more, and one repo whose numbers we cannot explain.
Number five. Ponytail, with 5,736 new stars. It is a skill that makes your coding agent write less code, like the laziest senior developer in the room. Its new version claims about half the code and half the tokens on the same tasks, with more risky logic covered by tests. Those numbers are its own benchmark. Verdict: try it, and measure it on your own repo.
Number four. E2E, from Tester Army, with 6,440 new stars. It is a testing framework for web and mobile apps where you describe a goal in plain language, an agent drives the app to reach it, and you still check the result with normal assertions. It climbed because writing end-to-end tests by hand is the part every team skips. Verdict: try it.
Number three. Diagram Design, with 7,173 new stars. It is a skill that makes your coding agent draw diagrams as one clean HTML and SVG file, in your brand's style, with forty-four diagram types. It climbed because agents explain systems all day, and the diagrams they make by default are ugly. Verdict: try it.
Number two. Moli, with 8,192 new stars. It is a headless browser built for AI agents: it fetches pages, searches the web and automates browser tasks, with a much lighter footprint than a full browser. Over 1,100 commits in a month. Verdict: try it, if your agents read the web.
Number one. Matt Pocock's skills, with 10,330 new stars, on top of more than 270,000. These are the instruction files a well-known TypeScript teacher gives his coding agent every day. It was on this list in September, and it is back at the top. Verdict: try it, but read it first.
Also climbing this week: VoiceStudio, last week's number one. Orca, for running many coding agents side by side. Magpie, one place to point every agent at any model. Archify, for turning plans into interactive diagrams. And HyperFrames from HeyGen, which turns HTML into video.
And one repo whose numbers we cannot explain. REA promises to reverse engineer anything with agents. On October 5 it had about 3,600 stars. On October 11 it had over 110,000. It also has nearly 25,000 forks, and GitHub's own Trending page does not list it at all. It does show real work, with over a thousand commits. We make no claim about what happened. We only show you the numbers, because a star is a bookmark, not a review.
So this week, the skills kept winning, and agents got better tools to browse, test and draw. The full radar is at kargin-utkin.com.
*How this is made: stars, forks, commits, issues and releases are counted from GH Archive, the public record of GitHub events, for the Friday-to-Thursday window. Lists, courses and prompt collections are left out. Descriptions are each project's own. *
