WhatsApp's AI Now Crafts Replies From Your Chat History

WhatsApp is introducing a significant expansion of its AI tools, headlined by a new capability that suggests replies based on the specific context of your private conversations. The feature, an update to the existing "Writing Help" tool, analyzes chat history to generate relevant response options. Meta, WhatsApp's parent company, emphasizes that all processing for this happens on-device, keeping the conversations private.

Beyond AI drafting, the update includes practical utilities. A new storage management tool lets users find and delete large files within individual chats without erasing the entire conversation history. For photos shared in chats, Meta AI can now be used to edit images directly, allowing users to remove objects or change backgrounds.

The rollout also addresses long-standing user requests. WhatsApp now officially supports transferring chat history from iPhone to Android devices, in addition to transfers within the same platform. iPhone users gain the ability to be logged into two separate WhatsApp accounts simultaneously, a feature already available on Android.

Finally, sticker suggestions are becoming more intuitive. As a user types an emoji, WhatsApp will propose related stickers to replace it. These features are in the process of a global release and should reach all users in the coming weeks.
