Trump Tells Nvidia's Huang AI Safety Push Is a 'Hoax' in Onstage Speaker Call

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took a phone call from President Donald Trump while onstage at the All-In Summit, then put the president on speaker for the audience to hear.

Trump used the call to dismiss calls to slow AI development, which Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had advocated. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have said they agree with Amodei, while Huang's position has differed. Trump called the slowdown push a "hoax" and said it played into the hands of political opponents and China. "We're not going to let that happen," Trump said. Huang agreed, and the crowd applauded.

Trump and allies including Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan have described opposition to data center construction as an international psyop aimed at stifling American economic growth. Gallup polling cited in the discussion shows seven in 10 Americans oppose data centers in their area, with more than half citing environmental effects and about 20% citing cost-of-living and quality-of-life concerns. Trump said the industry should proceed prudently but not be stopped.
