Fika Jobs, a Stockholm-based startup, has secured $4 million in pre-seed funding to develop a video-first hiring platform that leverages AI interview agents and short-form video profiles. This innovative approach aims to improve the hiring process by providing a more personalized and engaging experience for candidates and employers alike. The platform combines AI-powered interviews with video profiles, allowing candidates to showcase their personality and communication skills beyond traditional resumes. By connecting their LinkedIn profile, candidates can complete a 10-minute video interview with an AI agent, currently powered by Google's Gemini models. The interview responses are then automatically turned into short video clips and organized into a profile, which employers can discover and revisit as new opportunities arise. Fika Jobs' co-founders, Jakob and Alexander Dubois, were inspired to create this platform after a previous recruiting experience where they almost overlooked a talented candidate due to an unimpressive resume. The platform's focus on video-first profiles and AI-driven evaluations has the potential to help employers assess communication skills and cultural fit early in the hiring process, particularly for early-career professionals and non-traditional candidates. However, the use of video profiles also introduces bias risks, which the company will need to address. With over 100 companies on the waitlist and more than 50 companies having tested the platform, Fika Jobs is poised to make a significant impact in the hiring landscape. The company plans to launch early access to candidates this week, with a broader public launch expected this fall, initially focusing on Sweden before expanding internationally.
