Retroid has unveiled its latest handheld console, the Pocket Nova, boasting a Qualcomm QCS8550 processor that's similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This powerful chip enables the device to handle demanding games from the GameCube and PS2 era. The Pocket Nova features a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with a 4:3 screen resolution, perfectly suited for retro gaming. Weighing in at under nine ounces, the console is relatively lightweight and comes with a 5000mAh battery that supports USB-C fast-charging. Additionally, it includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5 connectivity, as well as a microSD slot for expanded storage. The Pocket Nova's pricing is particularly notable, starting at $229 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A stepped-up version with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is available for $269. While a release date has not been announced, the console is currently available for preorder. Retroid's track record of producing high-quality portable consoles, such as the Pocket 6, suggests that the Pocket Nova will be a compelling option for gamers seeking a powerful and affordable handheld device.
