One in Four Young Russians Now Use AI for Answers, Survey Finds

MOSCOW, March 27 – A new survey of Russian student media activists reveals a significant shift in information-gathering habits. According to data presented at the "Dialogues with Youth" roundtable, 24% of respondents now regularly turn to neural networks to find answers to their questions.

The study, which polled a thousand students, was discussed by editors from the youth media aggregator "NOS" and the "Social Navigator" project. While the figure highlights AI's growing role, the survey also found that official media outlets remain the primary and most trusted source of information for this demographic.

The discussion focused sharply on the issue of trust in AI-generated content. Natalya Tyurina, head of the "Social Navigator," noted the challenge of the "zero-click" era, where users accept automated search answers as definitive truth. "We somehow assume that everything a voice assistant like Alisa tells us is correct," Tyurina remarked, posing a critical question to the room: "How many of you actually check the sources Alisa provides?"

The "Dialogues with Youth" project, a joint initiative, aims to create a forum for student media creators and professional journalists to discuss pressing industry issues, including navigating this new information environment. The project is open to editors, bloggers, authors, and communications specialists.
