MoEngage Acquires Aampe, Betting on AI-Powered Personalization for Marketing

In a strategic move to bolster its customer engagement platform, MoEngage has acquired Aampe, a San Francisco-based startup that develops software assigning dedicated AI agents to individual customers. This acquisition, reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars, underscores MoEngage's commitment to AI-driven marketing personalization. Aampe's technology enables brands to tailor messaging based on individual behavior, rather than relying on traditional audience segments and campaign rules. With over 30 customers across the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific, Aampe has demonstrated significant growth, with a 150% increase in annual recurring revenue over the past year. MoEngage CEO Raviteja Dodda believes the acquisition will help the company attract customers currently using rival marketing platforms like Salesforce and Adobe. The integration of Aampe's AI agents is expected to enhance MoEngage's capabilities in autonomous decision-making, allowing for more precise targeting, messaging, and timing. This move aligns with the broader trend of embedding AI into enterprise applications, moving beyond content generation and employee assistance towards autonomous agents. Around 20 Aampe employees will join MoEngage, expanding its workforce to approximately 820 people. The acquisition follows MoEngage's $280 million funding round six months prior and demonstrates the company's aggressive expansion strategy in the marketing technology space.
