Google has removed the borders from its most interactive search tool. Starting today, the company's visual, conversational feature, Search Live, is available worldwide in every language and region where its AI Mode operates, covering over 200 countries and territories.
First introduced in mid-2025, Search Live transforms a phone's camera into a search partner. Users point their device at an object or scene, ask questions aloud, and receive spoken answers. The tool uses the live video feed for context, allowing for a natural back-and-forth dialogue about what the user is seeing. Previously, this experience was limited to users in the United States and India.
The global rollout is powered by a new underlying model called Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which Google states significantly improves the flow and naturalism of the audio conversations.
To activate it, one opens the Google app, taps the 'Live' icon below the search bar, and simply starts talking. The feature provides audio responses and can suggest relevant web links for deeper exploration. "It's for the times when typing a question isn't practical," Google explained. "If you're looking at a broken appliance or an unfamiliar plant, the camera shows Search what you see, so the help can be immediate and specific."
The company also announced a major expansion for Google Translate. Its 'Live Translate' feature, which streams real-time translated audio through headphones, is now available on iOS devices and is launching in several new countries including Germany, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom. This brings real-time spoken translation across more than 70 languages to both major mobile platforms.
