Google's CC Becomes an AI Agent for Family Organization

Google is testing a new version of its experimental AI agent, CC, now focused on helping families coordinate their households. The agent runs on its own Google account, which up to six family members can share information with. Each person decides what to share, either forwarding individual emails or automatically passing along messages from chosen senders like schools or sports teams.

CC creates a shared calendar and task list, sends a daily briefing about upcoming events and to-dos, and can handle tasks such as filling out registration forms or writing shopping lists, asking for permission before acting. It also works in a dedicated Google Chat window and can be added to Drive folders.

Google says the shift toward family management came from user requests. CC began as a productivity agent that delivered a "Your Day Ahead" briefing, later rebranded as Daily Brief. The experiment is currently limited to U.S. users with personal Gmail accounts who are 18 or older, meaning teens and school-provided emails are not supported. Existing users will be invited to upgrade, and new users can join a waitlist.
