Framework Laptop 13 Pro Sees Price Adjustments Amid Component Crisis

The ongoing component crisis has made it a challenging time for those in the market for a new computer. However, Framework has announced a positive development for customers awaiting their Laptop 13 Pro preorders. The company has secured more affordable PCIe Gen 5 SSDs from supplier Adata, resulting in a price reduction for certain configurations. Specifically, customers who ordered a 500GB SSD will now receive a 1TB SSD at a lower cost. Additionally, Framework is now offering configurations with 1TB or 2TB SSDs, although these options are not yet available in the DIY configurator. While this news brings cost savings for some customers, Framework is also warning of a potential price increase for the entire laptop line due to expected CPU price hikes. This adjustment may impact new orders in the coming weeks. The company had initially planned to ship the first Laptop 13 Pro units in June but delayed them to July due to issues with the haptic touchpad and custom display. As the component crisis continues to affect the tech industry, with recent price increases announced for Apple devices and Xbox consoles, Framework's price adjustments reflect the complex trade-offs involved in designing and manufacturing modern computing systems.
