In a move to formally support its most active contributors, dbt Labs has unveiled the dbt Community Champions Program. The initiative identifies and empowers the practitioners whose voluntary work—through mentorship, content creation, and event leadership—forms the backbone of the global analytics engineering community.

The founding group, selected by invitation, includes professionals from six continents working in sectors from finance to healthcare. They hold roles such as analytics engineers, data platform architects, and technical leaders, representing organizations of every size.

These Champions are more than participants; they are trusted guides. They produce tutorials and blog posts, offer guidance in community forums, speak at industry events, and provide direct product feedback to dbt's teams. In return, the program offers them early product access, professional development resources, and a dedicated network.

For dbt, this is a strategic investment. The company aims to create a more sustainable engine for peer-led education and product development. The insights from these practitioners, who solve complex data problems daily, are intended to directly improve tools and resources for all users.

While the first cohort is already set, dbt plans to open applications for future groups later this year. For now, members can identify Champions by their badges in the dbt Community Forum and expect to see them leading sessions at the next dbt Summit.
