AWS Lambda Adds Native Web Functions, S3 Lands on Vercel Marketplace

AWS introduced Lambda Web Functions, a new form factor that runs a standard HTTP web application on Lambda without converting it into an event handler. Developers can take a port-listening server built with Express, Hono, Fastify, or Next.js, run aws lambda-web deploy, and get a live HTTPS URL in under a minute - no adapters, no infrastructure setup, no framework lock-in.

Each execution environment handles up to 128 concurrent requests, so traffic bursts share warm environments, and billing meters actual CPU time rather than wall-clock time. The --regions flag replicates code and configures latency-based routing behind a single global URL, and traffic can be split across revisions by weight for canary rollouts. It is available in five Regions, running Node.js 24 on Arm64 with VPC connectivity. Lambda now offers three form factors on the same Firecracker isolation: Event Functions, Web Functions, and MicroVMs.

Separately, Amazon S3 is now available on the Vercel Marketplace and v0 by Vercel, letting users provision S3 general purpose buckets, S3 Tables, and S3 Vectors from the Vercel dashboard. A short-lived OIDC token is exchanged at runtime with AWS Security Token Service for credentials scoped to that resource, so no static keys are stored.

Other updates: Amazon EC2 T8i instances reached the São Paulo Region, offering up to 30 percent better price performance than T3; Reflection Beam, an open-weight agentic coding model with 501 billion total and 23 billion active parameters, is deployable from Amazon SageMaker JumpStart; the AWS Lambda Durable Execution SDK for Go is generally available; and Amazon CloudWatch added log routing and chained log parsers.
