In a move to streamline daily workflows for technical teams, AWS has expanded the customization options for its Management Console. The enhanced User Experience Customization (UXC) feature, first introduced in 2025, now allows administrators to declutter the interface by hiding irrelevant AWS regions and services.
For engineers and data teams managing multiple accounts, the ability to assign a color—like red for production or orange for development—provides instant visual context. The new visibility controls go further, letting teams strip away unused regions and services from console menus. This means a machine learning engineer can configure their view to show only SageMaker, S3, and Lambda in their preferred regions, reducing distraction and menu navigation time.
Importantly, these are interface changes only; access via CLI, SDKs, and APIs remains unaffected. The settings can be managed through the console or automated using new `visibleServices` and `visibleRegions` parameters in AWS CloudFormation, aligning with infrastructure-as-code practices common in data engineering.
An AWS spokesperson stated the update addresses direct feedback from platform teams seeking to reduce cognitive overhead for their developers. As cloud environments grow more complex, these granular controls aim to let engineers focus on building systems rather than navigating them. The features are available now in the AWS Management Console.
