AWS Builder Center Goes Mobile as Amazon Connect Talent and Corretto 27 Reach GA

AWS Builder Center now has mobile apps for iOS and Android, letting builders browse trending articles, take 600+ Skill Builder courses, and manage hands-on workshops with free sandbox environments from a phone. Sign-in uses an AWS Builder ID, and users can follow Heroes, Community Builders, and User Group Leaders, check Builder Loft event calendars, get push notifications, and submit product feedback through the Wishlist feature. The app is available worldwide.

Builder Center also introduced Polls, which let users ask the community a question from the Home feed with 2 to 5 answer options and a deadline. Votes are anonymous, and creators see only aggregate counts and percentages. The Zero to Shipped hackathon runs September 18 to October 2, with a $28,000 prize pool; five winning projects each receive $5,000 in AWS credits and a swag bundle.

Amazon Connect Talent is now generally available. The AI-powered hiring solution uses AI agents for structured voice interviews and evidence-based assessments, with candidate data anonymized during AI evaluation and recruiters retaining final decision authority. Amazon Corretto 27, a Feature Release of OpenJDK, is also generally available for Linux, Windows, and macOS with support through April 2027, adding G1 as the default garbage collector, post-quantum hybrid key exchange for TLS 1.3, compact object headers by default, and JFR in-process data redaction.

Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock for coding and knowledge work. According to Moonshot AI, it is its most capable model and the first open model to reach 2.8 trillion parameters, combining native vision with a 1-million-token context window. AWS also announced a simplified getting started experience with sensible defaults and $100 in free credits for most new customers, new low-cost EC2 T8i instances, and Elastic Beanstalk Cluster Mode for running application portfolios on shared Amazon EKS infrastructure.

Additional posts covered the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a new Amazon Bedrock AgentCore runtime with a P75 cold start of about 2 seconds, and an updated Well-Architected Streaming Media Lens. AWS re:Invent runs November 30 to December 4 in Las Vegas, with reserved seating opening October 6.
