Forget meal kits and takeout. A new wave of countertop appliances is betting that what busy households really want is a robot to handle the stove. Nosh Robotics has launched the Nosh One, a $1,500 AI-powered chef that promises to prepare entire meals without a human lifting a spatula.
The process is simple: load ingredients into the provided trays, select a recipe from an app, and walk away. The machine takes over, adding items to its internal pot, stirring, and using a camera to monitor cooking progress. It alerts your phone when dinner is ready. Nosh claims it can handle over 500 dishes, and users can invent their own by typing a description into the app; the system's AI will generate a cooking plan.
Currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter with shipping slated for this summer, the Nosh One enters a market already tested by rivals like the similarly priced Posha. A key distinction, according to Nosh, is a fully sealed cooking chamber. When the door closes, the pot and stirring mechanism are enclosed, which the company says contains splatters and cooking odors better than open designs.
It’s a significant gamble for consumers—$1,500 buys a lot of delivered meals. But for those tired of the daily chore of cooking, Nosh Robotics is offering a clear proposition: reclaim your evening, one automated stir-fry at a time.
