MOSCOW, March 19 – ContentAI, a Russian developer specializing in document automation, has launched a new version of its PDF editor, ContentReader® PDF 16, featuring an integrated AI assistant. The release targets corporate clients, emphasizing that all AI processing occurs within a company's own digital infrastructure to keep sensitive data from leaving the premises.
The launch coincides with a significant expansion of Russia's domestic PDF software market. ContentAI projects the PDF editing segment will reach 2.2 billion rubles by the end of 2026, with the viewer segment hitting 4.1 billion. This growth is driven by corporate demand for functional local alternatives to foreign software.
Beyond standard PDF tools like conversion, redaction, and digital signatures, the update introduces an AI assistant. This feature allows users to query documents in plain language—asking, for instance, 'What are the contract termination clauses?' or 'List the payment details'—and receive answers with citations to the source text. It can also generate summaries of lengthy reports or contracts.
CEO Svetlana Dergacheva stated the tool is designed to reduce time spent on routine document analysis by up to 80% for professionals like lawyers and accountants. The assistant operates using a large language model (LLM) integrated into a server component deployed locally.
Compatible with Windows and major Russian operating systems like Astra Linux, the software is registered with Russia's Ministry of Digital Development and is positioned as a recommended replacement for ABBYY FineReader and Adobe Acrobat.
