Palantir CEO: AI Platform Central to Western Military Coordination in Middle East

In a rare public discussion of modern warfare, Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp stated that the company's artificial intelligence software is now a central tool for U.S. and allied military coordination in the Middle East. Speaking at Palantir's AIPcon 9 event in Maryland, Karp framed the current conflict as a contest of technological production.

"Our capacity to wage war is what defines America at this moment," Karp told CNBC. "The AI revolution is an American event." He described Palantir's platform as the singular system capable of securely linking combat data between the United States and regional partners, particularly following recent Iranian airstrikes.

While Karp declined to confirm any role in specific operations, he acknowledged widespread reports. "I have read that Palantir's Project Maven is the core backbone of that," he said, referring generally to U.S. involvement. Project Maven, a real-time AI surveillance system using satellite imagery, was reportedly used with Anthropic's Claude model in the capture of Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro. Karp added that adoption by Middle Eastern allies, both Arab and non-Arab, is "expanding rapidly."

The strategic value of digital infrastructure was underscored last week when Iranian strikes targeted three Amazon data centers in the region. Karp interpreted the target list. "They're evil, they're not stupid," he said. "You would expect hardcore military companies. They are interested in the things they can't produce."

Alongside its defense work, Palantir's commercial division is growing sharply, with U.S. commercial revenue reaching $507 million in the fourth quarter, a 137% increase. The company's stock has risen 12% this month, contrasting with a dip in the broader Nasdaq.
