Google Expands Chrome's AI Assistant to Millions in New Global Push

Google is now bringing its Gemini AI directly into the Chrome browsers of users in Canada, India, and New Zealand. This expansion, which began in the United States earlier this year, marks a significant step in the company's plan to integrate its most advanced AI models into everyday web browsing. The update places a Gemini icon in the browser's corner. Clicking it opens a sidebar where users can ask questions, draft text, or generate images using Google's 'Nano Banana' model without leaving their current webpage. The assistant also connects to Google services like Gmail and YouTube within this panel. A key part of this rollout is expanded language support, adding French, Gujarati, Hindi, and Spanish to its capabilities, catering to the diverse linguistic landscapes of the new launch countries. For those who prefer a simpler interface, the feature can be removed by unpinning the icon. Google has confirmed that availability will widen to more regions and languages before the end of 2026, signaling a broader strategy to make AI a standard component of its flagship browser worldwide.
