AWS wrapped a major community event in Kenya last week, where student workshops on GitOps and AI agents drew large crowds. This was followed by JAWS Days 2026, which attracted over 1,500 attendees for sessions on building AI-driven teams. The momentum continues with several new service launches and updates.
Amazon Connect Health is now available, featuring five specialized AI agents designed for patient verification, appointment management, and medical coding. Built to meet HIPAA requirements, these tools integrate into clinical workflows within days.
For developers working with AI agents, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore has introduced a centralized policy system. Security teams can now define access rules using plain English, which the system converts into enforceable Cedar policy code.
A new option called OpenClaw on Amazon Lightsail allows organizations to run private AI assistants on their own infrastructure. It includes sandboxed sessions and connects to platforms like Slack and WhatsApp, using Amazon Bedrock as its default model provider.
Other notable updates include VPC Encryption Controls moving to a paid model, Database Savings Plans extending to Amazon OpenSearch and Neptune Analytics, and Elastic Beanstalk gaining an AI-powered troubleshooting feature that analyzes environment issues.
For event-goers, AWS Community GameDay Europe is set for March 17, offering a competitive, hands-on challenge. AWS will also have a presence at NVIDIA GTC from March 16-19 in San Jose.
